SHILLONG, July 15: The Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamool Youth Congress (MPTYC) on Friday made a clarion call for investigation by central teams into alleged irregularities in the state.
Addressing media persons here after holding its first state executive meeting, MPYTC state president Fernandes Dkhar, while taking a swipe at the government, averred that corruption is so rampant in the state that the even the partners in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) point fingers at each other over the same issue.
He said it is high time for that the Centre to send its teams to Meghalaya to probe irregularities in different projects.
Dkhar, while urging the like-minded youths of the state to join the party, said that there are deficiencies in different departments while youths are being deprived of their rights. Alleging that scores of vacancies in different departments are yet to be filled by the state government, the MPYTC state president said that the preceding government led by Mukul Sangma created most number of jobs in Meghalaya since 1972.
He also informed that the party is trying to enroll a minimum of 1,000 youths in every constituency.
When asked about the frequent attacks on the AITC for being a party from West Bengal, he said that the Indian National Congress was formed in Mumbai by a Bengali.
“This is petty politics and they are creating such perception because they know we are a force to reckon with,” Dkhar said.
