Police action against bike lifters continues

SHILLONG, July 18: Meghalaya Police’s crackdown on bike lifters under Operation Pride continues unabated in the state with police in West Garo Hills, in the last three days, busting an interstate gang of bike lifters and nabbing 10 persons.
A total of 12 two-wheelers and 11 mobile phones were also seized from their possession.
According to West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore, more than 70 suspected stolen bikes have been recovered under Operation Pride, with over 30 arrests since July 4.
Informing that approximately 20 undetected cases of Assam and Meghalaya have been solved so far, the SP asserted that a lot of people have started to come forward and surrender their second-hand bikes, which they suspect to have been stolen.
