Manarchak power project’s generation may be increased

 Agartala: The Northeastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) would be able to enhance the power generation of the proposed Manarchak power project in Tripura if additional gas supply is ensured, according a delegation of Diploma Engineers’ Association NEEPCO Ltd.

The delegation headed by Association’s president Arabinda Gogoi has recently met Tripura Power Minister Manik Dey and told him that the power generation of Manarchak power plant could be increased if the state government ensures additional gas supply.

In reply, the Minister exhorted the delegation to complete the 101 MW proposed power project on the schedule time.

The 101 MW power project is scheduled to come up by August, according to NEEPCO sources.

The delegation comprising Gajen Kakoti, Hamen Das, Asit Chowdhury and Majosh Kanti Dhar greeted Dey for being assumed office as Power Minister.

Later, the delegation met Head of Project (HoP) of Agartala Gas Based Project (AGBP) at Manarchak SR Biswas and discussed various issues related to the proposed power project.

To achieve the target, the NEEPCO authority has already completed civil construction work at Manarchak and machinery erection works are in full swing.

“If everything falls in place, the Manarchak project will be fully operational by October, 2013”, said a NEEPCO official.

The state government has already inked an agreement to buy 101 MW power to be produced from the Manarchak project.

The ONGC had also assured to supply require gas to run the 101 MW power project. The delegation also called on Head of Project (HoP) of AGTP Subrata Saha and discussed various issues.
