SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the Registry of the erstwhile Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court to provide documents including score sheets within two weeks to the Court after hearing a Government petition seeking extension for the High Level Scrutiny Committee (HLSC) on Monday.

After a CBI inquiry found anomalies in the recruitment of teachers in the State, following an appeal from the Government, the Court had allowed formation of the high level committee in August last year.

The Court had also given the deadline of six months for the HLSC to complete the probe.

However, the Committee claimed that it did not get the necessary papers including the score sheets from the CBI to proceed with the probe.

The Government, through the petition on Monday, sought the intervention of the Court to direct the CBI to furnish the necessary papers to the Committee to carry on with the task.

However, it was known that the CBI had already handed over necessary papers to the registry of the Court.

The delay of nine months even to start the probe has irked many NGOs and the eligible teachers whose mark sheets had been tampered.

The FKJGP has already urged the Court not to give extension to the Committee as the NGO wanted the Government to act on the CBI findings.
