Census release

The Primary Census Abstract Data for Meghalaya will be released in an official function by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on May 17 at 11.30 am in the main secretariat conference room.

Meeting

The State Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with Revenue and Disaster Management department, Government of Meghalaya will hold a meeting on the draft state disaster management plan on May 17 at 11am at Orchid Lake Resort in Umiam.

Workshop

A training/workshop on MPLADS guidelines for district officials will be held on May 17 at MATI lecture hall behind additional secretariat from 9.30am onwards and a valedictory function will be from 3.30pm onwards.

Panel discussion

The Meghalaya Economics Association in collaboration with the Department of Economics, St Anthony’s College Shillong will organise a panel discussion on the theme ‘Inner-Line permit and its Economic Implications in Meghalaya’ on May 18 at the premises of the college at 1pm.

MHIS

The FKJGP Mawlai circle has demanded that the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) should be provided to the residents of Mawlai at the earliest. FKJGP Mawlai circle also asked the State Government to upgrade Mawroh PHC into CHC.

Office bearers

lThe All Meghalaya Contractors and Suppliers Association in its general meeting elected G G Laloo as the president and B L Nongbri as the general secretary besides other office bearers and executive members.

lThe Pinewood Hotel Workers’ Union has elected new office bearers. Adelbert Nongrum was elected as they president, Onyton Lyngdoh as the vice president, Chawas Nikhla as the general secretary, Vikram Chetri as the organising secretary and Dilip Saha as the treasurer besides others.

Clarification

The Gorkha Public Panchayat, Khasi Hills has clarified that the body was neither established nor functions under the Panchayati Raj system. In a statement issued here, Gorkha Public Panchayat president B B Chettri said it is a purely social organisation formed to look after the welfare of Gorkha citizens and deal with their customary and traditional affairs.
