NONGSTOIN: A 13-year-old mentally challenged girl was repeatedly raped by her uncle (maduh) over the past several months as a result of which the girl has become pregnant.

The rapist was identified as Bratstar Pariong (30) of Mawlaisyiem, the uncle of the victim.

Source informed that the minor girl stayed with her family in Nongkasen but would often visit her uncle’s house. Taking advantage of her mental imbalance, the accused raped her in his house and threatened her against reporting the matter to anyone.

The sources also informed that over the next few months, the accused raped the girl on several occasions.

The matter finally came to light on Saturday when the family took her to Nongstoin Civil Hospital for check up after repeatedly complained of pain in her stomach. However, when the doctor examined her, it was found that she had been raped and was pregnant.

The girl later narrated the incidents to her family after which her parents rushed her to Holy Cross Hospital, Mairang, where it was discovered that she was already at an advanced stage of pregnancy.

The family on Monday lodged an FIR against the accused at Nongstoin Police Station.
