33-year-old goes missing

SHILLONG, Sep 4: A 33-year-old man, identified as Balantis Kharsati of Ïapshyndiet village in Mawryngkneng, has gone missing since August 22, following his release from Jhalupara police outpost.
In an FIR, the mother of the missing person Lorida Kharsati said that her son and his cousin Rapborlang Kharsati had gone for some work to Hynñiew Mer, Upper Shillong, on the evening of August 21.
Lorida said Rapborlang had informed about Balantis missing very late.
According to the mother, they also searched for Balantis in Sanmer, Upper Shillong, but to no avail.
It was on August 27 they filed a complaint with Mawryngkneng Police Station.
She also said that they were later informed that police from Jhalupara outpost had arrested someone at Sawmer on the wee hours of August 22, adding that they did not expect it would be Balantis.
She also said that after enquiring from the Jhalupara police outpost, she was informed that they had released Balantis on August 22 at around 11am after completion of his medical examination.
According to her, the police said that they had also given Rs 200 for his vehicle fare to go to his village.
