Mawkyrwat, Sep 12: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council’s South West Khasi Hills district unit on Monday asked the state government to bring in a resolution in the ongoing Assembly session against proposed uranium mining in the district and the state as a whole.
President of the HYC unit Arbok Kharjahrin said the Council was concerned that the central government, through the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), (Contd on P-4)

“The HYC condemns the Centre and the UCIL for attempting to mine uranium despite the stiff opposition from the people,” Kharjahrin said.
The HYC also demanded that the state government should clearly tell the Government of India to stop dreaming about uranium mining in the state.
