SHILLONG: The KVK Ri Bhoi under the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region observed World environment day at three cluster village viz. Sohliya, Khliehumstum and Mawshud near Umiam. The programme was chaired by Dr. R Bordoloi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Ri Bhoi, apart from the farmers and the school children H S Kramsa, Principal, Sohliya Karbi Upper Primary School, R Ronghang, Secretary, VCRMC, (Village Climate Risk Management Committee) J S Ronghang, Headman, Sohliya besides other Staffs of the KVK, Ri Bhoi.
The headman of the three cluster village thanked KVK, Ri Bhoi and ICAR, for organizing such an important event in their village which is organized for the first time. H. S. Kramsa, Principal, Sohliya Karbi Upper Primary School, in his speech emphasised that the day is an important one as most of us need awareness on the balance of soil, water and air which is possible to achieve only through a pollution free environment.
He also requested the farmers and school children that planting of trees should be a continuous process.
