JOWAI: Khliehriat Police arrested one Bani Sana (20) of Tuberkmai shnong, East Jaintia Hills for killing a woman and her two-year-old daughter at Mynkre village in East Jaintia Hills District on Sunday night.
“We got him and he confessed everything”, a senior police officer said adding that the police recovered a knife and also recovered his finger prints from a wine glass.
According to Khliehriat Police, Sana was arrested from Tuberkmai Shnong on Tuesday night.
“He confessed that he first tried to rape the woman inside her shop and when she resisted, he beat her up. He (Sana) took the child and threw her on the wall and she died on the spot.
The culprit later killed the woman and dumped her body in to a river close to her shop”, police informed. Police informed that the accused committed the crime alone and is still in police custody.
It may be mentioned here that a woman identified as Deilang Lamare (25) and her two-year-old daughter, Emika Lamare were found murdered at Mynkre village in East Jaintia Hills District on Sunday night.
