SHILLONG, Nov 10: Pynursla Constituency, the bastion of Deputy Chief Minister and NPP national vice president Prestone Tynsong, is likely to witness an interesting contest in the Assembly elections next year.
With former Commerce and Industries Director Nehru Suting deciding to contest the Assembly elections from Pynursla on a Congress ticket, Tynsong may now be posed with quite a challenge.
Suting, who had contested on a UDP ticket in the 2018 Assembly polls, lost to Tynsong by a margin of 2,574 votes.
Earlier on Thursday, the Pynursla Block Congress Committee (PBCC) had stated that they decided to project Suting as the official party candidate from the Pynursla seat.
As of now, the other candidates who have been confirmed from Pynursla constituency include noted Khasi singer Anthony Kongwang, and Voice of the People Party (VPP) candidate, Manbha Thabah.
Moreover, former MLA Donkupar Massar is also likely to contest as an independent.
Sources said Massar is yet to take a final decision on contesting elections.
