NONGSTOIN, Nov 21: A total of 102 medallists who represented West Khasi Hills District in the recently concluded North East Olympic Games 2022 were felicitated by the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) West Khasi Hills District here on Monday
The NPYF also felicitated four national referees and a national umpire during the felicitation programme, which was held at St. Vani Hall, Pyndengrei.
Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat, MLA/MDC of Mawshynrut, Gigur Myrthong, NPYF state president Kitborlang Nongrem, and members of the NPYF District Unit and Nongstoin Block were also present during the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Nongstoin MLA Byrsat lauded the efforts of the NPYF for honouring sportspersons of the district.
He recalled how West Khasi Hills has produced several athletes and sportpersons, achieving accolades and setting examples for the local youths.
The athletes, who were felicitated, had participated in various disciplines including football, basketball, athletics, wushu, taekwondo, table tennis, karate, judo, boxing and badminton.
