Shillong, Nov 28: After remaining edgy over violent protests in Shillong over the death of six persons in police firing at Mawkroh last week, the hill capital city today appeared to be limping back to normalcy.
Traffic flow in the morning was near normal. Schools and educational institutions functioned unperturbed. Iewduh, the town’s largest market, has begun to regain its feet. Several vegetable farmers ferried loads of perishable produces to the market.
Tourist taxis, which ply to and fro Guwahati, were out in full complement after all restrictions were withdrawn.
As Shillong remained incident free for nearly three days and the protesting youth bodies have not announced further agitation plans, public appears to be breathing a little easy.
With a perceptible improvement in law and order situation, the administration too is mulling the idea of restoring internet services today.
