SHILLONG, Dec 3: In a counterattack, NPP national president and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday said the Trinamool Congress will not win even five seats in the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections.
The chief minister said this while reacting to the statement of Opposition leader Mukul Sangma questioning an NPP survey that the ruling party could manage to secure more than five seats out of the 24 on offer in the Garo Hills region. “Anybody can make any comment…that is his (Mukul’s) prediction…may be he is predicting about TMC. I don’t know whether they will even touch that much or not. We will wait and see,” the CM said.
On NPP’s determination to sweep the plains belt region of the Garo Hills, the NPP supremo said, “We will work towards it and our endeavour will be to ensure that we get maximum seats all over the state.”
He however added: “I always say in every statement of mine that elections are not easy. You cannot predict and you cannot take things for granted.”
“You have to work hard, have a very strong mindset, a survivor’s mindset. You have to think things are tough and keep working hard,” he pointed out.
“I urge everybody in my party to never take things easy. We are going to work hard and we should always take our opponents seriously,” the CM added.
