Govt orders creation of police outpost in WJH

SHILLONG, Dec 6: The state government has ordered the creation of a new police outpost in Barato, West Jaintia Hills, with jurisdiction over the infamous Mukroh village where recently five of the locals were killed in a firing incident involving Assam police.
The Barato Police Outpost will be bounded by Saitsama OP in the North, Jowai PS in the East, Raliang OP in the South and Nartiang PIC in the West, according to a government notification.
The villages falling under the new police outpost included Barato, Mukroh, Saba, Maitdien, Jongkynshur, Iongkwang, Thangrain, Khliehsniriang, Shiliangmyntang, Thadsning, Thad Ialong, Musiaw, Samatan, Moobandu, Latymphu, Thadbamon, Umsalang, Lummuriap, Sowkhlieh and Bhain.
On creation of the Barato Police Outpost, the areas coming under its jurisdiction will cease to be under Nartiang Police Station, the notification said.
