TURA: One of the three accused migrant labourers who was assaulted by a mob at Wadanang locality of Tura town for allegedly attempting to molest a mentally challenged girl on June 21 succumbed to his injuries in Guwahati on Monday afternoon. The labourer identified as Minhar Ali of Kathalbari village of Mankachar in Dhubri district was undergoing treatment at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital for the past ten days after he sustained serious injuries. Meanwhile, night curfew which has been in place in Tura and other towns of West Garo Hills for the past eleven days is expected to be reduced to under seven hours with effect from Tuesday, a government official said. “Given the peaceful situation for the past couple of days and every likelihood of normalcy returning to the region we are contemplating to reduce the curfew hours,” informed district officials in Tura. “Night curfew will be from 10 pm to 5 am until further orders,” said Additional District Magistrate Ambrose C Marak while speaking to The Shillong Times on Monday.
