Girls’ hostel inaugurated at WKH village

NONGSTOIN, Dec 31: Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat on Friday inaugurated a girls’ hostel at Pyndengrei village, West Khasi Hills.
Addressing the inaugural programme here, the Nongstoin MLA informed that the project, which has been funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for Rs 2.5 crore, was earlier intended to be shifted to another district. However, with his intervention, the project was carried out at Pyndengrei village.
Informing that the village Dorbar, Social Welfare Committee of Pyndengrei and the Sports Club will jointly run the hostel, Byrsat also assured that he will continue to support the hostel with other necessary facilities.
Nongstoin MDC Gabriel Wahlang, on the other hand, lauded the MLA’s effort in transforming villages in Nongstoin.
Wahlang also exhorted Byrsat to continue with the good work and endeavour towards uplifting Nongstoin.
Others who were part of the programme include West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Garod LSN Dykes, Additional Deputy Commissioner V Swer, officials from various departments, Pyndengrei village headman M Marwein, among others.
