SHILLONG, Jan 23: The Congress party is going to announce its list of candidates within two days.
MPCC president Vincent H Pala on Monday said the party’s screening committee will meet in New Delhi on Tuesday and the AICC central election committee on Wednesday.
Headed by the AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, the CEC has Rahul Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik and others as its members.
“We expect to announce the names by January 25-26,” Pala said, before departing for the national capital.
Last month, the Congress had announced the names of 40 candidates.
Pala had recently stated that the Congress will field candidates in 55 seats out of the 60 seats going to polls on February 27.
