SHILLONG, Feb 3: NPP candidate Mohendro Rapsang, who filed his nomination from West Shillong constituency on Friday, said an amount of Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for development of smart projects in his constituency.
Speaking to media persons here, Rapsang admitted that the work for the smart constituency had been derailed for two years due to Covid-19 and now the work is going on in full swing.
“We are also working on water supply and distribution system and even streetlights have been changed into LED lights,” he said.
Asked about the instances of corruption in the NPP-led MDA Government, Rapsang said if there is any evidence of corruption, the concerned people should move the Court on the matter instead of shouting around.
Rapsang, who plans to work for the youth if elected for a second term, said he has made plans to encourage youths to come up with startups since he wants them to become entrepreneurs.
Rapsang also hoped that the election in his constituency will be peaceful as all sensitive areas have been covered with CCTV cameras and these cameras are linked to the police station.
Interestingly, Rapsang did not come to file his nomination with a huge entourage contrary to what most candidates have been doing. He was accompanied by his family members.
