PM, Shah to attend swearing-in, traffic regulated

SHILLONG, March 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and a couple of Union ministers would attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister and their council of ministers in Meghalaya on Tuesday.
BJP national president JP Nadda and some prominent leaders are also likely to attend these events in the state capital.
Official and BJP sources said that the swearing-in ceremony of new Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma and his council of ministers would be held in Shillong at 11 am on Tuesday at the Raj Bhavan.
Ahead of the PM’s visit, the police have drawn up a temporary traffic arrangement to ensure the smooth movement of the VVIPs.
Police have designated no entry for traffic at different stretches of road(s) including all the arterial roads joining the highway, which will be taken by the VVIPs during their movement between 10.20 am and 12.30 pm on Tuesday.
These stretches include 7th Mile towards Umshyrpi Bridge/Rilbong Point; Khlieh Iew junction/Murgi Bazar junction towards Upper Shillong and Anjalee; Petrol Pump — Civil Hospital Point — IGP Point — Kachari Point — Raj Bhawan. Mahavir Park junction towards Umshyrpi Bridge and Anjalee Petrol Pump; Police Bazar towards Kachari Point — Raj Bhawan; CS Junction towards Raj Bhawan; Pinewood junction towards Raj Bhawan, St. Anthony’s College towards Gurudwara Junction – AIR junction; Lower Lachumiere towards AIR Junction — Raj Bhawan; and Barik Point towards Civil Hospital Junction.
The police have requested the citizens to avoid journey in and around Shillong unless it is unavoidable or due to emergency reasons or take an alternate route for their destination.
