Shillong, March 14: Indians are celebrating after two movies – RRR and The Elephant Whisperers – won an Oscar award each in the ceremony held on March 13.
However, the star in the movie The Elephant Whisperers which is an elephant at the Theppakadu elephant camp in Tamil Nadu has become a sensation and people are making a beeline to see him.
The Elephant Whisperers is a short documentary film about a story of a couple who has been given an orphaned elephant, Raghu, to look after. People have been thronging the camp to see Raghu at the camp after the movie won an Oscar award.
The movie was nominated in the documentary short film category besides Haul Out, How Do You Measure A Year, The Martha Mitchell Effect, and Stranger At The Gate.
Soon after the movie won the award, people from Tamil Nadu and neighboring states have started thronging the camp to watch a glimpse of the elephant.
Producer and Director of the movie – Guneet Monga and Kartiki Gonsalves were present during the award ceremony.
Gonsalves in her speech said, “I stand here today to speak on the sacred bond between us and our natural world. For the respect of indigenous communities. For entity towards other living beings, we share our space with. And finally for co-existence”.
