Shillong, March 22: Thousands of posters calling for the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi were seized in Delhi, prompting the police to file over 100 FIRs. Two printing presses had received a request for one lakh of these posters.
The ‘Modi hatao desh bachao‘ posters, pasted on the walls in some parts of the national capital, have since been removed.
The Delhi Police also stopped a van on Tuesday and seized more than 10,000 posters. None of these posters included the name of the printing press.
“In response to offensive posters, including those against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that were posted throughout the city, Delhi Police filed 100 FIRs and detained six suspects. The posters lacked information on the printing press. The Printing Press Act and the Defacement of Property Act are both referenced in the FIR”, Special CP Deependra Pathak said.
As soon as the van left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office, it was stopped and a few people were arrested.
