Taking a leaf from the Assembly snippets in the edition of The Shillong Times dated March 22, 2023, the one thing that caught my attention was regarding the plan of the government to conduct an audit of Umiam bridge. One would like to remind the Government that the Umiam bridge is our lifeline. Alongside the audit, can the Government seriously consider the construction of a new bridge over the Umiam Lake? This is a serious matter and the Government must deliberate on this matter and get into action. At the same time, one hopes that the Opposition Members will wake the Government up from time to time so that the matter moves at a smarter pace.
