MAWKYRWAT, April 3: The KSU Mawkyrwat Circle on Monday felicitated two footballers from Mawkyrwat area in South West Khasi Hills, who were part of the Meghalaya team that scripted history after reaching the final of the 76th edition of the Santosh Trophy 2022-23.
The two footballers who were feted with Maitshaphrang Achiever’s Award were Manbhakupar Iawphniaw from Mawkyrwat village and Wanboklang Lyngkhoi from Marshillong village in South West Khasi Hills.
The felicitation programme was held at the office of the KSU Mawkyrwat Circle during which KSU Mawkyrwat Circle president Pauldeep Tongwah felicitated the duo in the presence of the members of the union.
Addressing the gathering, Tongwah congratulated the two footballers from the district and hoped that they continue to work hard and scale greater heights.
Tongwah also lamented that while noted sportspersons from other states are provided coveted government posts as a token of appreciation, the same is not practised in Meghalaya.
Tongwah then exhorted the local MLA and MDC to take the matter seriously for the benefits of the deserving youths.
