FIR against NGO leaders

 JOWAI: Khliehriat Police in East Jaintia Hills have registered a criminal case against HANM chief Shaniahlang Suchen and HNPF president Marshall Biam for disrupting normal life in the district.

Both the NGOs had jointly called a two-night road blockade on July 30 and 31 in Jaintia Hills thereby obstructing normal life and disrupting smooth flow of vehicular movement.

Police alleged that members of the two NGOs had pelted stones on vehicles plying on the National Highway at Lumshnong during night blockade period. Meanwhile, Suchen informed that both the NGOs have convened a joint meeting on Friday. “We will demand immediate withdrawal of the FIR lodged against us and if they (Police) fail to dos so we will take our own course of action”, he said.
