JOWAI, April 14: The KSU, West Jaintia Hills unit, has condemned the NPP-led MDA 2.0 for its “failure” to take steps to repair the Jowai bypass which is in dilapidated condition. The union has also warned that it will resort to “drastic steps” if the road continues to be neglected.
The sharp reaction came on Friday hours after the union, led by its general secretary Leningard Tariang and its finance secretary Phrangki Papang, went to inspect the road.
The KSU maintained that the dilapidated condition of the road jeopardised the lives of people who travel through the bypass.
According to the KSU, many vehicles now are travelling through Jowai, thereby leading to traffic congestions in Jowai town.
The union has, meanwhile, urged the NHAI and PWD (Roads) to take steps and immediately repair the road for the benefit of the commuters.
“We will not hesistate to take some drastic steps if the government fails to repair this road at the earliest,” Tariang said.
