SHILLONG, April 17: Vehicular traffic along the Shillong-Dawki road resumed on Monday afternoon after the NHIDCL cleared the debris from the landslide that occurred at Ryngngain near Lyngkyrdem on Friday last.
SDO (Civil) of Pynursla Civil Subdivision, Evarinia Warjri issued a public notice on Monday stating that the road will be open for communication till 9pm on Monday. Warjri said that the gross weight load of a vehicle should not exceed 30 tonnes.
She further informed that the agency will conduct further blasting of felled boulders and clearance of road blockage after 9 pm.
It may be recalled that two people were crushed to death while nine sustained injuries on Friday evening after a boulder fell on two vehicles, leaving two occupants dead.
The bodies of the deceased were retrieved by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence and Home Guard personnel along with Pynursla police and villagers on Saturday.
Other nine people, who made a narrow escape, were shifted to the Pynursla Community Health Centre for treatment.
Warjri had on Sunday informed that she had filed an FIR at Pynursla police station to inquire into the landslide leading to the loss of two lives.
