Paul assures to boost Aadhaar enrolment

SHILLONG, April 26: Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh has assured the Centre that the state government will take all necessary steps to increase the Aadhaar enrolment in Meghalaya and improve seeding of beneficiaries of various Women and Child Development schemes.
Paul and officials of the Social Welfare department were part of a review meeting, which was held with other states and was chaired by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani.
Paul responded to the observations of the Ministry and discussed with the Union Minister on various issues of the department such as like upgrade of Anganwadi centres,  POSHAN Abhiyan, Saksham Anganwadis, Mission Vatsalya, which relate to child welfare and child protection services, as well as Mission Shakti, which encompasses women welfare schemes.
The efforts made by the Social Welfare department towards reducing malnutrition in Meghalaya were showcased as a creditable achievement for which the Secretary to Women and Child Development Ministry congratulated the state.
Paul has, meanwhile, ordered for a timely third-party evaluation of malnutrition redressal success of Meghalaya, which has been nationally acclaimed and acknowledged.
