SHILLONG, May 3: MPCC chief Vincent H. Pala on Wednesday asked Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to withdrew his controversial statement that “MLA schemes are meant to benefit only those voters/supporters who support the party/candidate during elections”.
“The MLA or MP scheme is not a personal scheme of elected representatives. His (Tynsong’s) statement might encourage all the 60 MLAs to provide the scheme only to their supporters,” Pala said.
According to him, it will be a bad precedence if MLAs decide to help only their leaders and supporters instead of the community.
