Possibility of rainfall as western disturbance approaches northern parts of country

Shillong, May 23: Reeling under heatwave across Northern parts of the country, people may get some relief due to a fresh western disturbance that could cause rain on Tuesday.

“There will be improvement starting Tuesday because a new western disturbance is on its way. As a result, we anticipate that temperatures will begin to drop throughout the entire region and that the heatwave’s circumstances will improve, she added on Monday” an IMD official said.

As the weather service predicted that the heatwave may end starting on Tuesday (May 23), IMD stated on Monday that there might be some relief from the warmth in the upcoming days. In addition, Delhi could see some rain starting on Wednesday (May 24).

In India, the summer season is at its height, with temperatures sweltering over 44°C in the northern and central regions of the nation. The highest maximum temperature was 46.2°C on Monday in Najafgarh.

Narela and Pitampura recorded 45.3°C and 45.8°C, respectively, while Ayanagar and Palam recorded 44.4°C and 44.2°C, respectively, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather agency on Monday issued a heatwave alert for northern India due to the high temperatures.

We have issued a heatwave alert for south Haryana, Delhi, south Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal, according to IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy.
