JOWAI: The Village Defense Party (VDP) of Moodymmai village in West Jaintia Hills completed 50 years on Tuesday, and marked the occasion with a celebration attended by West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Herbert G Lyngdoh, as the chief guest, local MDC Laitsing Shylla, Jowai Central MDC Moonlight Pariat, Mukhla MDC Sunday Morning Suna and Thadlaskein BDO, AM Lyngdoh, besides other.
To commemorate the formation of the VDP in 1963, a memorial stone was unveiled in memory of the founder members.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP lauded the efforts of the VDP in helping the police in controlling crimes and maintenance of peace and harmony in the villages.
