Education Min receives deadline to address issues

 SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association has set August 20 as the deadline for the Education Minister to meet the teaching fraternity and discuss various issues pertaining to the teachers as a whole.

The decision to issue a deadline to the Government was taken at the meeting of the KJDSTA here on Friday.

During the meeting, the Association discussed various issues including the provincialization of the services of all government-aided school teachers in the State.

The KJDSTA has also decided to support Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) who is demanding for provincialization of teachers’ services.

KJDSTA also asked the Government to release a regular and uniform salary for the teaching community.

The Association which is looking after the welfare of the teaching community has also expressed its strong reservation against the proposal of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) to take over the task of preparing question papers for the Class IX internal examinations.
