SHILLONG: The alleged interference by a section of ministers has led to the delay in the announcement of results of the written test which was conducted for the non-bonded candidates who have applied for the vacancies to the post of nurses in the various district hospitals and healthcare centres of the State.
Informing this, sources said that the result of the written examination which was held on August 10 was supposed to be announced on Monday.
“But due to interference (by ministers), the announcement of the result is delayed and the file is currently being held up at the Secretariat,” sources said.
Hinting ‘possible manipulation of the results’, sources said that it would be totally unjustified if candidates who fail to clear the written test get selected.
“The recommendations of the Selection Committee should be given due weightage. If people close to the ministers get the job then it defeats the very purpose of calling interview,” sources said.
Earlier, questions were raised over the decision of the Health and Family Welfare department to adopt separate yardsticks for bonded and non-bonded candidates.
As per the advertisement issued on Friday last to fill up 360 vacant posts of nurses, the department has exempted the bonded candidates from sitting in the written test.
“The candidates under the State quota would only have to appear for the screening test while the non-bonded candidates would have to appear for both the screening and written test,” sources informed.
According to sources, this is the first time that the department is doing such a thing which is a clear violation of the State Reservation Policy. While citing an example, sources said that even doctors who have completed their MBBS under the State quota would have to appear for both the written test and personal interview which is conducted by the MPSC.
