Shillong, June 26: In a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Nashik, two individuals were assaulted after being found with alleged beef in their car. One of the victims, who was severely beaten, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital.
The two individuals, Nasir Shaikh and Afan Abdul Majeed Ansari, were en route to Mumbai on June 24 when their vehicle was stopped by a group of people on the Sinnar Ghoti Highway for inspection.
Upon the alleged discovery of beef in their car, approximately 10 to 15 unidentified individuals attacked them with iron rods and sticks, causing severe harm. Regrettably, one of the men lost his life due to the injuries sustained. A murder case has been filed in relation to this incident.
This incident bears similarities to a previous case in Bihar’s Saran district in March, where a 56-year-old man, Naseem Quereshi, was reportedly lynched on suspicion of carrying beef. Three individuals, including sarpanch Sushil Singh and villagers Ravi Sah and Ujjwal Sharma, were arrested in connection with the lynching, according to reports.
