Rs 1.9 lakh cash heist with imitation weapons

NONGPOH, July 12: Around Rs 1.9 lakh worth cash was robbed by miscreants who barged into a stone crusher plant in Killing area of Ri-Bhoi on Wednesday morning.
According to the Khanapara Police, which rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call, the robbers were armed with imitation weapons made of wood.
The mobile patrolling team of Khanapara PS and personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were dispatched to the scene, and a detailed investigation was initiated to ascertain the exact nature of the incident.
Preliminary findings from the inquiry revealed that the assailants forcibly entered the premises and proceeded to rob the office locker, making off with an estimated amount of Rs 1.9 lakh in cash. Following the robbery, the perpetrators fled towards a nearby jungle.
In light of these developments, the fingerprints of the suspects have been collected from the crime scene, which is likely to aid in the identification process. A case has been registered at the Khanapara PS, and efforts are under way to apprehend the responsible individuals.
Moreover, a specialised dog squad from Shillong was engaged to assist in tracking and identifying the suspects.
