TURA, July 13: Centre’s half-hearted effort in resolving the strife in Manipur has drawn criticism from the Garo Hills Catholic Union (GHCU) as the Northeastern state continues to reel under sporadic violence.
Members of the GCHU, in a meeting at Dumnikura Parish Compound in South Garo Hills, expressed grief over the lackadaisical attitude of the central government towards Manipur.
The union resolved to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a copy of which will also be forwarded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well as Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
The union will request the leaders to take all possible steps to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
