Tura, July 25: The National People’s Party (NPP) from West Garo Hills and the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) in separate statements, on Tuesday condemned the dastardly attack on the Chief Minister’s Office at Dakopgre in Tura, during the meeting between civil society groups and the Chief Minister on Monday, which left several security personnel injured.

“As responsible citizens of the state, the members of the NPP condemn the incident and request the perpetrators to take up the issue through peaceful negotiations and not to resort to any kind of violence. We also appeal to the public to maintain peace and extend their cooperation to the government towards an amicable solution to the issue,” the party said.

Meanwhile, the NPYF stated that the chaos and the attack at the CMO Tura was tantamount to a criminal conspiracy by anti social elements.

“We strongly denounced the attack which could have harmed the Chief Minister. The action of the perpetrators is a nefarious design of these hooligans, who came to the venue with a preconceived plan to disturb the peace,” the NPYF added.

The NPYF also expressed shock that even an ambulance, which should never be subject to attacks, as they are essential for preserving life and providing aid to those in need, was not spared by the hooligans.

The NPYF, while seeking strong action against the hooligans, urged the citizens to remain calm and allow the law enforcing agencies to work and cooperate in whatever possible way, to arrest the wrongdoers.
