Shillong, July 26: Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi, a woman from Hyderabad who had traveled to the USA to pursue her master’s degree, is now facing a challenging situation.
As per India Today, after her belongings were stolen, she has been spotted fighting depression and struggling with starvation on the streets of Chicago. In a heartfelt plea, her mother, Syeda Wahaj Fatima, has written to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, urging him to intervene and facilitate her daughter’s return to India.
The letter came to light on social media when Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader Khaleequr Rahaman shared it on his Twitter handle. In the letter, Syeda Wahaj Fatima described her daughter’s ordeal, explaining that Lulu had been in regular contact with the family until two months ago when communication suddenly ceased. Disturbing news reached them through two Hyderabad youths, informing them about Lulu’s desperate situation in the USA, where her stolen belongings left her without basic necessities, leading to severe starvation and depression.
The worried mother is seeking assistance from the Embassy of India in Washington DC and the Indian Consulate in Chicago to step in and help bring her daughter back safely. She believes that Lulu can be located with the assistance of Mohammed Minhaj Akhter.
The family’s desperate appeal has sparked concern and hopes for a swift resolution to Lulu’s distressing circumstances in a foreign land.
