SHILLONG, July 26: The state government on Wednesday submitted before the High Court of Meghalaya that investigation is at an advanced stage and charge-sheets are likely to be filed within the next fortnight or so in the matter of perceived illegal procurement of vehicles by some officials of the Police department.
During the hearing of the PIL, the Court observed, “It does not appear that much progress has been made in the disciplinary proceedings pertaining to the respondent police officer (GK Iangrai).”
The State submitted that since the presenting officer was on leave, the matter was stalled.
The Court hoped that the matter will be proceeded with in the right earnest, as expeditiously as possible, and in accordance with law.
“Let the matter appear four weeks hence for the state to file a report both as to the status of the criminal proceedings and of the disciplinary proceedings,” the order said.
