Tura violence politically motivated: Prestone Tynsong

Shillong, July27:  Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today said that the recent violence in Tura seems to be politically motivated. He said that most of the arrested persons belonged to one or the other political party. He also asked Tura Police to go more aggressive while investigating into the matter.

The Deputy Chief Minister today further informed that the State Government today finalized the alignment for Pynursla bypass under Package 3 of the Shillong-Dawki Road Project. He admitted that the project was getting delayed due to peculiar land holding system.

Meanwhile, indirectly attacking the TMC for their alleged involvement in the Tura violence, Health Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh today called for the need put an end to this mafia-style political warfare that has been disrupting the otherwise peaceful state of Meghalaya.

While speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Lyngdoh said that political mafia of some of these parties are now gradually entering Meghalaya politics.

She further stated that the people of the state of Meghalaya must say no to this intrusive application of political patronage, which is now becoming a dangerous trend.
