SHILLONG: After the ban on sale of loose petrol, the East Khasi Hills district administration has restricted the sale of kerosene in the open market. The fuel would now be available only to the PDS card holders.

According to East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Sanjay Goyal, the direction has been issued in view of the use of kerosene by miscreants as a raw material for making ‘Molotov Cocktails’ (petrol bombs), following the ban on sale of loose petrol.

“The district administration has issued a direction to all the shop vendors not to sell kerosene in the open except to the card holders and if anyone is found selling the same in the black market, they will be dealt with severely,” the Deputy Commissioner added.
