TURA, Aug 16: As the 77th Independence Day celebrations rang across the nation, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department of West Garo Hills in Tura joined hands with the Central Puja Committee Garo Hills to deliver a heart-warming initiative that truly embodied the spirit of freedom and compassion. Together, they orchestrated a food distribution drive that reached out to those in need, brightening up the lives of patients, inmates, and children residing in various institutions across the district.
Amidst celebrations, this collaborative effort brought a sense of community and togetherness, reinforcing the essence of freedom and equality that Independence Day represents. The distribution event unfolded across multiple locations, touching the lives of many and leaving an indelible mark of goodwill.
One of the key highlights of this initiative was the distribution of food to patients in the Child Care and Maternity Hospital. The initiative also extended its reach to the District TB Hospital, providing sustenance to those battling health challenges, and to the Missionaries of Charity, where food reached the less fortunate in their care.
The initiative also ensured that the Observation Home, Children’s Home, and District Prison and Correction Centre were not left out. Inmates and children in these institutions, often marginalized by society, were reminded that they too are a part of the nation’s fabric and that their well-being matters.
