Shillong, August 24: Renowned actor Anupam Kher continues to showcase his remarkable versatility as he takes on the role of ‘Dr Khan’ in the upcoming series ‘The Freelancer’, sporting an entirely distinctive appearance.

As per IANS, discussing his character and appearance, Anupam shared insights, stating, “Dr Khan is a fascinating character to portray. His mentorship to Freelancer holds great significance in the series. The diverse reactions to his look have been intriguing. While I have portrayed numerous challenging roles with varying appearances, this particular look has resonated.”

Adapted from Shirish Thorat’s book ‘A Ticket to Syria’, the series delves into the covert activities of the Islamic State, showcasing the terror organization’s intricate cross-border operations that lure many into a sinister cause.

Directed by Bhav Dhulia, ‘The Freelancer’ is produced by Friday Storytellers with Neeraj Pandey serving as the Creator and Showrunner.

The narrative revolves around an extraction mission set in the hostile, war-torn landscape of Syria, focusing on a girl’s escape from the clutches of death.

The ensemble cast includes Sushant Singh, John Kokken, Gauri Balaji, Navneet Malik, Manjiri Faddnis, Sarah Jane Dias, and the captivating Kashmira Pardeshi as Aliya in ‘The Freelancer’.

Viewers can catch the series on Disney+ Hotstar starting September 1.
