SHILLONG, Aug 29: Former MLA and UDP vice president, PT Sawkmie has asked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to promptly address the recent incidents of “inconvenience and disturbance which purportedly took place along the interstate border with his Assam counterpart, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Conrad Sangma should speak to the Chief Minister of Assam regarding the inconvenience and the disturbance created by the residents of Karbi Anglong against the residents of Meghalaya in Pnar village,” Sawkmie said.
The statement came from Sawkmie after Karbi residents recently reportedly chased away Meghalaya Police personnel at Lapangap village.
Asking the Assam government to take serious note of the people who are causing disturbance in the border areas, Sawkmie called for harmony, and sought no further instigation.
