Shillong, August 31: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Thursday  made it clear that it would not recognise any documents or No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Relief and Rehabilitation Colony (RR Colony) Social Welfare Society for renewal of the trading licenses within its jurisdiction.

Talking to reporters after the meeting with the members of the Dorbar Shnong Rynjah, KHADC CEM, Pyniaid Sing Syiem said that the council would only recognise documents or NOC issued by the Dorbar Shnong and the authority of the Dorbar Shnong Rynjah.

According to him, anyone who is not a Khasi will not be able to hold the position of the Rangbah Shnong adding that the council at the same time does not recognise any self-style headman.

Syiem said that the council does not recognise anyone from Them Rynjah which is previously known as RR Colony who claimed themselves to be the headman.

He said that all the localities and areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Hima Mylliem would have to abide by the provisions laid down in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Electors and Rangbah Shnong of Mylliem Syiemship) Act, 2007.

It may be mentioned that Dorbar Shnong Rynjah had expressed disappointment over the issue of certificates by the local committee of the Relief and Rehabilitation (RR) Colony, Rynjah.
