TURA: The Garo Students’ Union has decided to stage a sit-in dharna in front of the offices of the deputy commissioners in all the five districts of Garo Hills instead of the proposed office picketing on September 17 and 19 so as not to hinder the ongoing admissions of students for technical studies and a recruitment drive for the State Police.

“We will have sit-in demonstrations on both the days instead of office picketing but the night road blockades on 17th and 19th and the one-day bandh on Friday remains in place,” informed GSU president Tengsak G Momin to The Shillong Times on Sunday afternoon.

“The picketing of offices would have impacted the students and the youth so we decided against it,” added Tengsak.
