SHILLONG, Sep 5: The solid processing and disposal plant for Jowai and Khliehriat has been reportedly completed to the extent of 70 percent, as stated by the government of Meghalaya.
This was in response to a PIL filed in the Meghalaya High Court. The state has filed a progress report stating the near completion of the plant, and also on the progress about the 10 TPD solid waste-management systems.
The petitioner was not present in the court during the hearing and to which the court observed that it may be a good indication that the issue complained about has been taken care of. The Jowai Municipal board also mentioned that regular removal of garbage is continuing on the lines as indicated before and as per the directions of the High Court.
The Court hoped that scheduled date of completion that is the end of the year is adhered to.
