Shillong, September 6: Jaskaran Singh, hailing from the small village of Khalra in Punjab, on the Indian border, has emerged as the first crorepati of the quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ season 15, winning a whopping Rs 1 Crore.
As per IANS, the 21-year-old’s dedication to education was evident in his two-hour journey to college each day, driven by the belief that knowledge is the key to realizing his dreams.
Balancing his college studies with UPSC and KBC preparations, Jaskaran’s hard work paid off when he found himself facing the legendary Amitabh Bachchan in the 17th episode of the show. He expressed his admiration for the iconic actor, mentioning that he listens to old Hindi songs while studying, with Big B’s song ‘Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein’ being a favorite.
Amitabh acknowledged the song’s beauty and Jaskaran’s dream of hearing him say those words. He emphasized the challenges contestants like Jaskaran overcome to be on the show and how the game can change lives.
Jaskaran praised Amitabh, saying age doesn’t limit one’s contributions, and he learned from his grandparents that a person’s worth is defined by their hard work.
While Jaskaran couldn’t answer the Rs 7 crore question, he decided to quit the game, a decision Amitabh lauded. The question was about a king cursed to live as a tiger for a hundred years, with the correct answer being ‘Prabhanjana.’
Jaskaran’s ambitions extend beyond the crore, as he aspires to become an IAS officer. He sees his journey from KBC study sessions to winning Rs one crore as a symbol of transformation. His winnings will support his family and fund exploration of the places he’s studied, shaping his future and serving the nation.
