Shillong, September 20: The US Department of Justice (DoJ) is reportedly investigating Elon Musk regarding potential personal benefits he may have received from Tesla, the electric car-making company he leads.

As per IANS, this inquiry centers on the use of Tesla funds for a secretive project known internally as ‘Project 42,’ with the aim of constructing a “glass house” for Musk in Texas.

Additionally, the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has requested information about financial transactions between Tesla and other entities linked to Musk. The investigation seeks to determine if Tesla adequately disclosed any perks or benefits provided to Musk.

Tesla has previously stated that it does not offer perks or personal benefits to its top executives.

In response to the allegations, Musk clarified that he is not using Tesla’s resources to build a “glass house.” He emphasized this in a statement, saying, “Just want to reiterate that there is no glass house (metaphors don’t count lol) built, under construction, or planned. I’m not building any house of any kind anywhere. Period.”

Furthermore, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reportedly initiated a civil investigation into Tesla’s ‘Project 42.’

Previous reports had indicated that Musk had contemplated building an extravagant glass house near Tesla’s headquarters in Austin, Texas, which was estimated to cost millions of dollars.
