SHILLONG: The KSU Mawlai Circle has slammed the State Government for its adamant stand on the demands made by the school teachers.
“The indifferent attitude of the State Government towards their demands has compelled the school teachers to come out to the street to agitate,” KSU Mawlai Circle education secretary John Kyrshan Hahshah here on Friday.
While condemning both Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Education Prof Laloo for not making any efforts to look into the demands of the school teachers, he said that it is the student community who are suffering due to this present stalemate.
“The State Government must take responsibility for the loss encountered by the students,” the KSU leader said while also stating that the student body would provide all logistic support to the teachers in their fight for their right.
Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) has warned that if Chief Minister does not meet them to discuss their demands within September 23, they would continue with their agitation from September 24 as announced earlier.
Mentionably, the teachers have decided to rally a procession to the Secretariat on September 24 and also hold an indefinite hunger strike.
